Five Times The Value

We have been testing Apple iAds in some of our free apps as an additional way to monetize those apps. We have tried Google AdSense Mobile Ads as well and some other networks. We pretty much are testing Google AdSense Mobile Application Ads versus Apple's new iAds.

What have we found?

The results are a bit surprising. Based on our tests, and I am talking lots of lots of impressions, Google Ads are earning us about 5 times more money than Apple iAds. But that isn't the end of the story. Apple iAds are 5 times more valuable to us than Google Ads.

Google has been able to pay us 5 times the amount of Apple simply because Apple can only fill 15-percent or less of our ad impressions. If Apple was able to fill 100-percent of our ads, we would likely be making 5 times the amount in ad income. But Apple currently, at least for our apps, cannot fill most of our ad slots.

I am not allowed to share the specific statistics with you, but you can trust me, most people trust me.

For now, we simply have Apple running a 100%, and when Apple cannot fill the ads, we have Google fill the unused inventory.

I should note that when Yahoo first began competing with Google in 2005 with the Yahoo Publisher Network, earnings were way higher with Yahoo. Same with Microsoft contentAds, but now - neither can touch Google. I should also add that Google's inventory of ads have been unreachable by any of their competitors, which is what I am seeing even now with iAds versus Google AdSense for Mobile Applications.
