Push Twitter Alerts in Siddur

A new version, version 4.2.3, of the iPhone Siddur is now available for download. The main change in this version is that we added push notifications to alert you of important and relevant information to this iPhone Siddur.

This actually came in handy, because there was a really bad bug on some devices with the iPhone Siddur which removed the Siddur portion from the application. 4.2.2 had push support, so when the fix became available, 4 days later, we sent out a push alert (via a badge) on the App icon. Let me show you how it works. First, I post a message in the @iSiddur Twitter feed. Then we send out a push badge alert, which only adds a little badge with a number on the iPhone Siddur app icon. Here is a picture:

Then, when you open the app, the badge is shown on the more tab:

Clicking on the more tab will show you more options, but it will also add a number by the "Alerts" section:

When you click on Alerts, the @iSiddur Twitter feed is loaded (if you have internet) and the badge is cleared:

As you can see, it came in handy with this 4.2.2 bug.
