v4.4 iPhone Siddur Now Available
After almost a month of waiting, version 4.4 of our iPhone Siddur is finally available on the iTunes Store as a free update. What is new?
The big update is push reminders for zmanim. That means you can get an alert on your iPhone for a specific jewish time, such as for a reminder to say Sefirat HaOmer or a reminder to daven (pray) Mincha (afternoon services). I have a ton of details on how push zmanim works over here but you should know, it costs $3.99 every six months. Yes, we are charging an extra fee for this because it requires a lot of server updates and maintenance.
How Do I Get It?
Go to the Zmanim tab, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the little arrow/envelope icon, then tap on the "Push Reminders" button and follow the prompts from there.
Other updates in version 4.4 include:
- Fixed Mizrach Compass in Israel
- Fixed iCal Shavous Day Bug
- Updated Help Document
- Localized Zmanim Additions
- Miscellaneous Text Updates
- Luach Bug Fixes
What's next?
English! Yes, English translation for the Siddur is just about done. We are in the testing phase. We are launching with Nusach Ashkenaz and will see how that goes. I have some screen shots and demos over here but the text and layout has changed some. We expect English for Nusach Ashkenaz to be released as a paid update (one time fee) in version 4.5 - stay tuned.
iPad? Yea, we are testing things - so stay tuned. I can say, we have some neat ideas.

This new feature of Push notifications at zmanim times will only be useful for me if/when the Ateret Torah times are installed. you need to deliver on the promise that the prefs screen is advertising.

The time for tzais is of around 14-15 minutes in Montreal. Probably everywhere. Please fix.

Just installed v4.4 and sent luach events to server. I then subscribed. Now my iCal opens and shows the events - but locks up and can't be used.

Well, it pulls off a live data feed, so if your internet is slow - it can hang up iCal.
