Kids Playhouse Built As Side Project for CTO Geek

I've always loved power tools.  Any time anything had to be assembled, fixed or manipulated, I was there.  It all started when I was a little boy.  When many of my friends played catch, I would play with my plastic contruction set.  I built sky-scrapers, cars, anything.  Then one day my father took me to the hobby shop.  He introduced me to plastic models and bought me my first kit.  It was amazing.  I was able to channel my creative needs through this little sheet of white plastic.  After upgrading to wood models, learning basic plumbing & electric around the house, and fixing broken electronics, I finally had my opportunity to express myself in a big way -  my own backyard.

Last summer, I started to practice.  I purchased the Blue Ridge Frontier from Gorilla and was determined to put it together myself.  Took me a week without missing any work.  I documented it with a boring video on youtube.  The swing set is still holding up and I felt comfortable to start my uber project, build a playhouse for my kids from scratch.

I got some quotes for the parts and lumber and was not really happy paying almost $2,000 to do this.  I did what most lazy dads do - push it off.  Well, it turns out I had bad mold in my basement and I had to completely rip off all of my paneling down there.  I saved the good paneling to panel my play house.  All I needed were some 2x4's and screws.  The entire project cost around $350 to do.

I would like to take a moment to thank my wife and kids for putting up with me during this process.  Civia, my wife, helped me throughout the process offering design advice and paint colors.  The kids were instrumental in the inspection process. Check out the video and pics below.

Those kids are so lucky to have a nice play house. I was always dreaming of having one when I was a child.
