Phones? Nah! Facetime!

facetimeAlex has been working on a pretty important and time sensitive project and has been staying at the office late recently. Such devotion @FesikTheWise!

Last night, when I was on the way out of the office, Alex was on a call with the client. I wanted an update, so I told Alex to call me when he was done to discuss.

Both of us decided we would avoid using landlines or cell towers and go over WiFi using Apple iPhone's Facetime feature. I've used Facetime for business calls before, but only with Ronnie. So I wanted to give it a try with real coders (making fun here).

Alex 'Facetimed' (is that a word yet) me sometime last night to discuss the project. It worked out real well, we discussed the various deliverables and only dropped the call once. Who knows why, but much better than the drop call ratio using AT&T.

The only issue with Facetime is that you fill obligated to do a bit more. Since you can flip the camera around, showing off my child's books and toys felt necessary. While Alex felt it was necessary to show me the code on his screen. Do you feel like you are obligated to go beyond a normal conversation when using Facetime or is it just me?

Here are some pictures:

I have switched to using FaceTime when available for my business and love it. It’s a great personal way to contact clients and other contacts. I have even added that my contact number supports FaceTime on my website.
