In short, there is really no technical difference between Verisign, Thawte or GoDaddy SSL certificates. The only difference is the price and the brand recognition. Verisign is the most well known SSL certificate and also the most expensive. GoDaddy is the cheapest SSL certificate but also the least known SSL certificate. Thawte is somewhere in between.
They all offer different levels of SSL certificates. The main difference between them is if they come with EV (extended validation) or not. EV certificates support the browser URL bar to light up in green, in addition to the basic lock symbol showing in the browser bar. Here is how EV certificates look for Thawte seals:
What is the cost?
We charge an additional $20 per month, plus the cost of the certificate. The additional $20 per month is because we host on Amazon Web Services and each certificate requires their own IP address, which requires a unique load balancer.
