The topic of insurance is not a popular one for really anyone, including individuals or businesses. In fact, most people I know hate the insurance renewal period because it often means less coverage for more money.
RustyBrick tends to be overly insured mostly because we like to be extra cautious and careful with how we operate. This is not just about being extra cautious around insuring our operations but also in how we do our day to day work - we like to be extra detailed and careful. At the same time, we know we are human and we can make mistakes, which is where insurance comes in.
Recently, a company wanted me to buy insurance that technically insures me in the case that if I didn't follow the proper requirements for a different insurance policy that it would cover me if that policy does not. So I have a policy that lets say covers the company for, um, let's say water damage. That policy asked specific questions before insuring me. If I didn't answer those questions exactly 100% correctly, this new policy will cover me for those errors and omissions.
To me, there seems to be something fundamentally wrong about being pushed to buy insurance for your insurance policies. I know technically it might make sense but it just feels wrong.
