A few years back, one of the developers at RustyBrick came to me and asked me to do an internal presentation within the company to tell everyone what is going on at the company. Often employees are working on projects but don't really know what their coworkers are working on. He suggested it would be good for everyone to understand the bigger picture of what is going on at the company, from who is working on which projects and what those project goals are.
It was a great idea and we try to host these internal status updates meetings quarterly.
We had one yesterday, which means pizza for everyone!
In the status meeting, we go over the following items in about 30 minutes:
I try to include as many GIFs as possible in the slides, as people know I am somewhat obsessed with animated GIFs:
I think overall it does help make for a more informed staff, happier employees, more productive output and more satisfied customers.
Here is most of the team from the meeting yesterday, with a few people out of the office that day because of sickness and whatnot:

Barry is also the founder of the Search Engine Roundtable and the News Editor of Search Engine Land. He is well known & respected for his expertise in the search marketing industry.
