Getting Ready For GDPR

Published January 30, 2018

General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR for short, are a set of new requirements and regulations that aim at protecting the members and subjects of the European Union.  There is an official web site set up for this at eugdpr.org and acts as an aid for both members and companies on what is coming.

In short, these are some of the strictest privacy regulations set forth by an organization and it will be enforced by the EU member states by May 25, 2018.

RustyBrick and our products, such as ShulCloud, are committed to the overall requirements and principles outlined by the General Data Protection Regulation.  We are and will continue to take the necessary steps to become compliant with those specific GDPR principles and requirements.  This includes but is not limited to how members can access, modify, delete and take out there data, how the data is encrypted and secured, how communication and marketing works within the platform, overall security requirements, privacy procedures, logging, auditing and more importantly - overall communication practices for those who use our software.

We are glad our cloud partner, AWS, is also committed to being GDPR compliant, which makes our jobs a bit easier.  Here are some of the items we are digging into to prepare our platforms for this important change:

  • Territorial Reach
  • Data Subject Rights
  • Data Breach Notifications
  • Data Protection Officer (DPO)
  • Data Processing Agreement (DPA)

RustyBrick believes the overall GDPR regulations and principles are something that should be applied not only to our EU customers and members, but across all of our customers both in the US and across the world and we are committed to taking the necessary steps to protecting all of our customers.
