Where Does RustyBrick, The Name, Come From

Published August 29, 2017

One of the more common questions we get here in the office from prospects, customers and even some employees is why the name RustyBrick?  Where did the name come from?  How did we decide to name the company RustyBrick?  Why did we decide to use a word "rusty" and a word "brick" and put them together to form the name RustyBrick, Inc.?

The true answer always tends to be a let down for those who ask the question but I'll tell you all anyway.

Ronnie while sitting in class, I believe 10th grade, he came up with the name around the initials of his name.  His full name is Ronnie B. Schwartz, and he initially named the company RustyBrickSoftware, RBS.  But when we decided to legally form the company into a real business, we dropped off the "software" part of the name, since it was just a descriptor and stuck with RustyBrick.  Of course, RustyBrick is more than just a software company, we build brands, do heavy creative and design for customers and more.  So it was a good thing we removed the word "software."

Many people think that RustyBrick is formed based on Ronnie's first letter of his name and Barry's (my) first letter of his name.  But no, that is not true.

Then we have some people say, "bricks can't rust," but I don't know if that is exactly true.

Then we have people calling us asking if we can sell them bricks. No, this is not a joke and no, we are not getting into the brick selling business.

In short, we are a web and mobile construction company - we build strong foundations that can be scaled up and last a long long time.  Add some rust in there for personality and creativity and you got a creative and solid web and/or mobile software application.
