Slack Downtime = More Productivity?

Published January 9, 2018

At around 2:15pm EST today, Slack went down.  Slack, for those that do not know, is by far the most widely used internal business communication tool for businesses that I know.  They've helped cut down on email, improve office communication, and even make for improved office culture - thanks to the GIF integration.

But for many, Slack can also be a distraction - leading to people not getting specific tasks done as quickly because they are being pulled in multiple directions.

Slack is down right now, has been down for over 45 minutes and many are joking about the downtime on Twitter and Facebook, another distraction.  But many are using this opportunity to focus and work on specific projects and tasks without any distractions.

If your office is not using Slack, I highly recommend you check them out at Slack.com when they are back up and operational.  For everyone else who is already on it, enjoy the peace and quiet for the time being.

At 3:05pm EST Slack came back online - phew.
