Apparently, We're Top New York Custom Software Developers

Published July 18, 2017

This morning I received a Google Alert for our company name that ultimately lead to a press release by Clutch, a B2B rating company based in Washington, DC.  The press release is titled Clutch Announces Top New York City Agencies & Developers of 2017.  RustyBrick is specifically listed in the right category, the custom software development category, which made me think this is legit.

Clutch wrote that they "identified the best agencies and developers in New York based on a long-standing methodology that maps service providers’ industry expertise against their ability to deliver quality results for clients." "Companies featured on Clutch are evaluated on their market presence as demonstrated by the services they offer, clients they serve, and examples of quality projects they’ve completed. Companies are also evaluated by their clients directly through firsthand interviews conducted by Clutch analysts, which are published as reviews on their company profiles on Clutch.co," they added.

I do not believe anyone from Clutch called us, they didn't ask us for money and I do not see any bills I have to pay to them for this listing.  I do get emails all the time from places like CIO Review and dozens of others asking us for money to be listed as a top company in X or Y categories.  So this is not about seeking money, maybe about some PR and links for their business?  But they do seem legit.  Their Crunchbase report shows they are a real company, with 50-100 employees and around $25 million in funding.

Here is the matrix for the 15 development companies that made the list.   We are listed as 14 or the circle highlighted in red:

The funny part is our profile says we do SEO, we really do not do SEO.  A lot of the data points for our profile is also not accurate. Although, it seems the client they spoke to is a typical happy RustyBrick client.

Anyway, I thought it was all very interesting to be featured here, for free, and without knowing until it was published.
