Working On The Plane Is Great...

Published June 12, 2017

I use to hate air travel because I dreaded landing after the flight and having to catch up on all the work I missed. The tons of emails, client requests, slack messages and so on.  In fact, I specifically booked the latest flights, including red eyes, as often possible in order to minimize the number of messages that I would have to reply to after landing.

But now that most, if not all, my flights have WiFi, I don't mind flying throughout the day hours.  In fact, I love being able to work on the plane because no one can really walk in and ask me questions, no one can call me or really bother me.  I can sit still for hours and hours and just work.  That is of course if the WiFi and power on the flight remain solid, which has been the case most of the time recently on my United flights.

Flying all the way from New York to Tel Aviv, Israel with WiFi is amazing. Flying from New York to Seattle, which I am doing now is also amazing.  When it doesn't work, we all get so upset and I am one of those who get upset because I have my quote 5-6 hours or 12 hours of uninterrupted work time to focus and get things done.

Here is a screen shot of the United WiFi site right now during my flight to Seattle (yes, I am writing and posting this as I fly):

I was even able to fully watch two Google Webmaster Help videos on YouTube during my last two flights.

And I have very little to catch up on when I land, those pesky voicemails is one thing I need to figure out.
